To The Editor:

Please be advised that I received an email from the Grants Management Specialist Office from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant Programs Directorate, that was assigned to review our Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant application.

The application was favorably reviewed by a panel of our peers. With that said, there are several questions and a few matters that have to be discussed or verified prior to processing our application any further.

There are 15 questions which have to be answered by our governing board.

Please be advised, this is not a notification of award; it is only a preliminary discussion of our application. As we continue through this process I will keep everyone informed of any new responses concerning the SAFER Grant.

The next meeting of the Lehigh Acres Fire Control & Rescue District Board of Commissioners will be held Friday March 25 at 4 p.m. at Veterans Park Community Center at Veterans Park on Homestead Rd. The public is invited to attend all open fire board meetings. – Ed.
