Woman, 86, hit in Lehigh hit and run early today
Lee County deputies are seeking the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run injury in Lehigh Acres early this morning. The hit and run occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. at the corner of Alvin Avenue and Banning Street in Lehigh. The victim’s name is Marye (pronounced Mary) Pericles (pronounced PARE-uh-culls),, age 86 of 825 Alvin Avenue, Lehigh Acres.
Deputies say the victim was waiting at a bus stop with her granddaughter when a vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, struck her and continued on. The victim did not get a good look at the vehicle, but told deputies it was last seen heading southbound on Alvin Avenue.
Preliminary indications are that the victim was possibly struck by the vehicle’s side view mirror. The victim was transported to an arrea hospital, with what appear to be non life threatening injuries, said Tony Schall, a spokesman with the Sheriff’s Office.
