Prep Report: Alimonti HRs power Tritons

By Staff | Mar 28, 2010

Senior Daniel Alimonti single-handedly powered the Mariner Tritons to a 5-1 victory over Island Coast Friday night.

Alimonti belted two two-run home runs, giving him three homers this week and four for the season, to lead the Tritons’ offense that produced six total base hits. Alimonti’s first home put the Tritons in front 2-0 in the first inning. The second dinger widened the gap and Walter Cleary tacked on an RBI double in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.

Island Coast finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth. Cameron Gellinger (2-for-3) tripled and Cole Ondrejka (2-for-2) lofted a sacrifice fly for the final margin.

Cleary (3-0) earned the win on the mound, scattering five hits while striking out four. Ryan Manka took the loss for the Gators (8-7), who play at Cape Coral Monday.
