Identity sought In death of girl found in woods along SR82

An investigatioin continues today regarding the identity of a decomposed body discovered April 9 in a wooded area near Alabama Rd. and SR 82 in Lehigh Acres, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Motorist along SR82 reported seeing crime tape and investigators looking for evidence. A small blue tarp tent had been set up, visibile to drivers, said Jennifer Bermudez, a motorist driving the route Saturday.

The body appears to be that of a white or Hispanic female, approximately 15 to 22 years of age with black hair.

Public Information Officer Tony Schall said she was wearing a gray zippered “Exist” brand sweater with a picture of a motorcycle. She was also wearing two necklaces and a bracelet, he said. One was a Gucci-styled necklace with a clear stone pendant.

The other was a gold-colored rope necklace with a red stone pendant. The bracelet was silver-colored with white stones. Pictures of the necklaces and bracelet accompany this news article.

King said the cause of death will need to be determined by the County Medical Examiner.
