Everblades beat Elmira, 4-3

By Staff | Apr 13, 2010

The Florida Everblades advanced to the American Conference semifinal playoff round Sunday by beating Elmira 4-3 to win the best-of-five series 3-2.

The Everblades play the first two games of round two on the road against the Reading Royals, who beat Kalamazoo 3-2 in overtime Monday night to take the series 3-2.

Tickets are available for Blades home playoff games on April 17, 20, 23 and 24.

Milan Gajic’s empty-net goal with 55 seconds to play proved to be the game- and series-winner in Sunday’s decisive fifth game in Elmira. Gajic finished with two goals and an assist and rookie forward Matthew Pistilli scored a goal for the third straight game.

The Blades scored the icebreaker in the first period on Mike Bayrack’s first goal of the postseason.

The Jackals forced a 2-2 tie heading to the third period. Pistilli gave the Everblades a 3-2 lead early where it stayed until the final minute of the game. The Jackals closed the game with a last-second goal.
