Six pallets of 57,024 meals are on their way to Haiti through World Harvest Missions, thanks to the efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres and volunteers who joined them on Saturday to pick meals for the hungry.,
The Kiwanis packaged 65, 448 meals in 2 1/2 hours, Kiwanis club members said. Volunteers worked at tables each with gloves on their hands inserted ingredients in a container which ended up in a plastic bag, sealed and ready to be delivered.
The way the Kiwanis Club members put it is was: “8 Weeks of work – Over 100 Fundraising Events — Over 1200 volunteers which equals — Over 6300 Volunteers Hours Used.”
Some 8,424 meals were given to three local churches and Lehigh Acres Community Services to help feed the people in Lehigh Acres. For more information, go to: www.lehighacreskiwanis.info.
