Miracle drop 4th in a row to Marauders
Behind a strong pitching performance by right-hander Nathan Adcock, the Marauders dropped Fort Myers 6-2 Monday night to complete a four-game sweep in the season’s opening series.
Adcock becomes the first starter in Bradenton’s history to notch the win. He went five innings allowing no runs on five hits and striking out seven.
Miracle starter Bruce Pugh took the loss allowing two runs on five hits in three innings.
Trailing 3-0 into the sixth inning, the Miracle made the game close by scoring two runs on two hits. With Adcock gone, Drew Thompson led things off with a bunt single against Bradenton reliever Michael Felix. After Ramon Santana walked, Michael Harrington drove in the first Miracle run of the night on a single that scored Thompson. Two batters later, Chris Herrmann brought Santana home with a fielder’s choice groundout to first base.
Fort Myers then had an opportunity to tie the game, but Evan Bigley struck out to end the inning.
The Marauders’ bullpen kept the Miracle offense in check the rest of the night, and later piled on three insurance runs against Henry Arias.
The Miracle (0-4) head to Port Charlotte for a three-game set against the Stone Crabs. They then head to Palm Beach Friday for a weekend series against the Cardinals.
The Miracle return to Hammond Stadium April 19 against Port Charlotte.
