Letters: Please support us in our struggle against ECWCD

By Staff | Apr 19, 2010

To The Editor:

The local citizens of Lehigh Acres, an unincorporated area with approximately a 70,000 population and one of the hardest hit areas in the country concerning foreclosed homes, is taking a stand against East County Water Control District’s Commissioners who are attempting to pass a $7.5 million bond this Monday without the consent of the people. ECWCD is a special taxing district which is not limited to ad valorem limitations.

Please read the letter written by Rep. Paige Keegel of Lee County who is standing with the people’s right to vote (referendum) on large capital expenditures. The letter is on the Lehigh Acres Citizen website under Community News.

Monday night at 6 p.m., there will be a local Tea Party Express Bus arriving at the ECWCD office with citizens expressing their concerns about poor performance of their elected officials and disagreement with elected officials who seek to tax without the consent of the people.
