Weed and Seed community forum set for April 27

By Staff | Apr 20, 2010

The Lehigh Acres Weed and Seed Steering Committee will sponsor a community forum along with the working sub-committees on Tuesday, April 27, at 6 p.m. at the Victory Christian Church located on 1201 Taylor Extension Road in Lehigh Acres.

Residents, community organizations, educational leaders and our local elected officials are working collaboratively to improve neighborhood safety and to increase the quality of life in Lehigh Acres. This will be a question and answer forum to allow the residents of Lehigh Acres to understand the purpose of the Weed and Seed initiative and the accomplishments we have achieved to date.

The forum, “Crime Reduction and Prevention: How Residents Can Support the Process,” will feature the following panel members: Captain Ed Tamayo, Bravo District commander; Bo Turbeville, steering committee chair; Lt. J.D. Loethen, law enforcement sub-committee chair; Damon Shelor, community policing sub-committee chair; George Szymanski, neighborhood restoration sub-committee chair; and Rae Nicely, prevention, intervention and treatment sub-committee chair.

The first Weed and Seed forum was held in 2008 and hosted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. It was a great way for residents to engage in discussions with community leaders, said spokeswoman Andrea Adams. For information, call Andrea Adams 477-1485.
