Marauders topple Miracle, 3-1
After defeating the Bradenton Marauders for the first time this season on Thursday at Hammond Stadium, the Fort Myers Miracle could not get their offense going Friday night, losing in Bradenton 3-1.
With two men on and two out, Bradenton closer Noah Krol induced an game-ending groundout to third base from Miracle first baseman Michael Harrington to seal the win. It is his fourth save of the year.
The Miracle had numerous scoring opportunities, stranding 12 runners on the bases, including nine in scoring position.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Miracle got their only run of the night with a little help from a defensive lapse by the Marauders. With Chris Herrmann at first, Dan Rohlfing hit a line drive down the third-base line into the corner, his third double of the season. The Bradenton left fielder bobbled the ball which allowed Herrmann to score.
The Miracle’s biggest chance came in the fifth against Marauders starting pitcher Nathan Adcock. Brandon Roberts led off the inning with a walk and stole second to get into scoring position. Yangervis Solarte struck out swinging at a pitch in the dirt, but Marauder catcher Tony Sanchez threw over the head of first baseman Calvin Anderson allowing Solarte to advance to second and Roberts to third.
With no outs, Adcock (2-1) retired the next three batters to quell the threat. Adcock pitched five strong innings, allowing one unearned run. Both of his wins have come against the Miracle, with a loss in-between to the St. Lucie Mets.
The Miracle (5-8) return home for a Saturday night game against the Palm Beach Cardinals.
