Rabbi Albert J. Cohen

Rabbi Albert J. Cohen died on April 21, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Pauline; his children, Jac Joel Cohen and Judi and David Thomas. He loved to spend time with his family and was affectionately called “Poppy” by his grandchildren Jared Evan Thomas and Sarah Turner, Devon Alyse and Gene Thornton, Justin Craig and Anne Cohen, and his great-grandchildren Isabella Thomas and Parker Henry Cohen.

Rabbi Cohen was a respected member of the community and was very influential in all aspects of serving Lee County. Rabbi Cohen was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all, his family said.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 25, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Rabbi Albert J. Cohen Holocaust Interfaith Memorial Foundation at Temple Beth Shalom or Hope Hospice, Diplomat, in Cape Coral would be greatly appreciated.
