Florida Power helps Habitat in Lehigh
Just days before Earth Day and in commemoration of National Volunteer Week, more than 1,000 Florida Power & Light Company employees and their families volunteered last Saturday in support of community service projects to benefit the environment and local charities.
One site was for Habitat for Humanity when FPL employees and their families worked to prepare a new home for a local, low-income family in Lehigh Acres.
This is FPL’s second annual Power to Care Day, which encourages employees to participate in one of more than 25 community volunteer projects throughout the company’s service territory. On this day alone, FPL volunteers logged in approximately 4,000 hours with an estimated value to the community of $81,000.
Also in Lee County, FPL employees and executives rolled up their sleeves to support a park cleanup at two locations.
