Hammerheads drop Miracle, 6-2
JUPITER – Jupiter scored two runs in the first inning and two in the third that would prove to be enough support to bowl over the Fort Myers Miracle 6-2 Tuesday night.
The Miracle (5-13) continue to struggle offensively, stranding 10 runners on the bases even though they had a season-tying high of 11 hits. It also is their season-high fifth straight defeat.
Brad Tippett (0-1), who pitched six impressive innings for the Miracle, was charged wit his first loss of the year. The Australian right-hander allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out nine Hammerhead batters. Tippett struck out the side in the first and fifth innings, recording the most strikeouts by a Miracle starter this season.

Mattison reached base in four of his five plate appearances, and the three stolen bases brings his season total 17.
Trailing 2-0 in the third, after a lead-off single by Drew Thompson, Nick Romero doubled in the first run for the Miracle.
They scored their second run with back-to-back doubles in the fifth. Yangervis Solarte’s opposite-field shot to left was followed by a scorching line-drive down the third-base line by Evan Bigley to cut the margin to 4-2.
