ECWCD supervisors have dropped the ball
To the Editor,
At the last Board meeting of the East County Water Control District a few things became painfully clear.
One, our district is in bad shape, both the infrastructure, and the financial being of the ECWCD are in a critical state. Weirs, and culverts on verge of collapse, causing increased risk of flooding as we head into rainy season.
Second, mismanagement on the board has left a scarce amount of taxpayer money to serve the needs of the taxpayer, causing our commissioners to claim the need to put us in debt with what currently stands at a premature estimate of a $7 million loan.
The third and final issue that has become apparent, is the lack of leadership, and the all-out clarity that the commissioners that we elected to serve us are out of touch.
The commissioners have been given time and time again to change course; some have had close to a decade to foresee and prevent the state the district is currently in. Though they claim to have always served the people, the current conditions show they did not do what was best for the district, yesterday, today, or for the future.
Our elected officials dropped the ball, it is clear that come November it is time to drop them.
