Crist took stimulus for Florida; what is all the rhetoric about?

By Staff | May 4, 2010

To the Editor:

Onhis own – Crist’s flip leaves Sen. LeMieux in an odd spot – Crist’s indie run scrambles Senate race – Florida Gov. Crist leaves GOP – Floridians get a great Senate race. These are head lines of stories in the Friday, April 30, 2010 issue of the daily paper in Fort Myers.

There should have been one more head liner: Charlie Crist is still Charlie Crist. He did not change his looks,he did not have a brain nor heart transplant and he did not abandon his belief in the ideal ofbeing a “politician” for the people.

This is not a letter of endorsement of Charlie Crist. He still is our governor for the next eight months. What he does in the months ahead, will determine whether or not he gets my vote.

If all Rubio has is the quick hug Crist gave our President to show courtesy, and the stimulus money that helped Lee County move toward economic recovery, then he has a lot of work to do in the next eight months.

As for Lt. Gov. Jeff Kotthamp and U.S. Rep. Connie Mack voicing their concern about the impact of their personal relationship and friendship, it is apparent they did not have it to begin with.

A personal relationship means you relate to a person and their qualities of character. Friendship is the relationship between people arising from mutual affection and admiration.

Lt. Gov. Kotthamp prefers to support his party, and Rep. Mack claims it is an act of politics and not principle, something he knows well.

As for Democratic candidate Kendrick Meeks, who is he? Just another big government , big spender, high taxes, run of the mill, democrat?

So, keep yourself informed in the next eight months, and come election day, cast your vote as your beliefs and principles dictate.

Your vote is still one of the few freedoms, we as individuals have left. Exercise this freedom and duty. Amon Louis Kerns
