Lehigh man charged with sexual offenses

On April 15, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were notified of possible sex crimes involving multiple female victims at a home in North Fort Myers. Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation.

Investigators learned that six juvenile females were being supervised by a baby sitter at an undisclosed location. The suspect, a registered sex offender identified as Steven William Forester, 40, with a birthdate of Oct. 31, 1960, of 1617 N. Maple Avenue, Lehigh Acres, would visit the home where the victims were being cared for. The person supervising the children had no knowledge of Forester’s criminal history.

Detectives learned Forester spent a lot of time with the victims and was known to take the them places and buy them things. It was during these encounters that the sex crimes occurred.

On Friday, April 30, 2010, Forester was located at 18250 Matt Road, North Fort Myers. He was taken into custody and charged with the following:

One count of felony Sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12, four felony counts of committing a sex offense against a child (fondling), two felony counts of exposing a minor to obscene materials, one felony count of committing a lewd act against a minor and two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure in public.
