‘Steeple jacking’ taking place in Lehigh

By Staff | May 4, 2010

To the Editor:

Recently I learned two new words, “Steeple Jacking,” meaning “church stealing.”

A group of Christians stole a church from other Christians who had been members of a church named “First community Congregational United Church of Christ.”

It was 50 years old and the first church in Lehigh Acres long before Lehigh Acres grew to the size it is now.

After thinking about the two words, I wonder how those Christians who changed their name to “First Community Congregational Church” can really give and serve the people of Lehigh Acres when they have defiled one of God’s commandments, “Thou shall not steal.”

If anyone can find the answer please let this Christian know that answer.
