Letter carriers to pick up food from your mailboxes Saturday

By Staff | May 7, 2010

A massive food drive will take place Saturday as residents in Lehigh and throughout Lee County leave non-perishable foods next to their mailboxes.

Letter carriers will pick up the food which will be distributed to agencies that give food away to the needy. In Lehigh Acres, the food goes to Lehigh Community Services.

Carriers remind residents to only leave non-perishable foods. They can be in bags or boxes and situated next to your mailbox. The food will be picked up during regular normal delivery times. You can also take food to the post office, according to a letter carrier who delivers mail to The Citizen.
