Can anyone answer my questions?
To the Editor:
I read with delight and applauded a letter from one of your readers (Some thoughts about government) in last week’s Lehigh Acres Citizen. I am not party person but have found that because I am a registered voter that I must change my party affiliation to be able to vote for whom I want to.
Our government is failing us in so many ways. People would be astounded to know that illegal aliens can cross the border into the U.S. and if the woman is pregnant, we pay for her delivery of the baby under the Emergency Medicaid for Aliens (EMA) program.
Yes, the birth is considered an emergency under our law.
We as taxpayers pay for all of these costs. Americans who have lost their jobs and apply for food stamps – all of their income is counted.
If it’s an illegal alien and they have American children, they subtract the illegal alien’s income and therefore the children qualify for food stamps (ever wonder why at the first of the month at grocery stores, there are so many people and children in line with many carts of food?)
We’re paying for it as taxpayers.
Illegals cannot be reported by state workers. It is against the law. People who apply to become U.S. citizens or legal residents must be sponsored and if they apply for assistance with the government or state, they’re reported to Immigration Naturalization Service (INF) because they have to be verified.
Where’s the justice?
I’m a U.S. citizen and have worked all of my life and have applied for disability benefits through Social Security and still can’t get help.
Should I cross some border to see if they will help me like America helps everyone else?
