Help find thieves who stole, shrimp, lobster in Lehigh
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in tracking down one or more unknown suspects who broke into a Chinese restaurant earlier this month, and made off with more than $700 in seafood.
Sometime in the early morning hours of May 5, someone broke into the China King restaurant, located at 1470 Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. Detectives say the suspects pried the back door to a vacant business located next door to the China King.
They proceeded to cut a hole through the wall, providing entry into the China King’s freezer. Still without access to the restaurant itself, they used a mixer kept in the freezer unit to bust the door open, allowing the suspect(s) into the business.
Once inside, they ravaged through shelving units, stole $50 from the cash register, and even busted open three vending machines for some spare change. The suspect(s) attempted to get access to the adjacent liquor store, however were unsuccessful in their efforts.
In addition to the money taken, the thieves also took more than $700 in shrimp and lobster tails, as well as eight cases of soda.
Detectives are looking for any information on who may have committed the burglary, and where they may be now. Anyone with information that could be helpful is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000 in cash rewards.
