James M. Blackburn

James Malone Blackburn, 86, of Immokalee, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Born October 16, 1923, in Bonifay, Fla., he served in the Navy during World War II. Blackburn married Georgia Florene Galloway, December 6, 1943, where they lived in Immokalee, for more than 60 years. As a dedicated husband and father, he taught and instilled in his children and grandchildren the value of family and a strong work ethic, his family said.

James is preceded in death by his wife Florene. He is survived by his two children, Patrick (LeClaire) Blackburn of Lehigh Acres and Fleeta (Julian) Williams of Immokalee, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Blackburn’s memory to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. A remembrance service will be held at a later date.
