The Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce honored 10 Lehigh teachers Saturday night at the Microtel Inn & Suites during a special recognition dinner. The awards were presented by the Lehigh Acres Foundation of the Chamber.

A large crowd attended the $40 a plate event. In past years, teachers were recognized at weekly Chamber lunches, but the Foundation decided to spend more time in evaluating those who deserved credit and hold an annual event in their honor.

Of the 10 teachers, two were unable to attend Those who did intend included:

Lenora Lewis-Clarke, Anthony Allevato, Sue Dunn, Danielle Lee, Sarah Phillips, Ellen Smith, Keith White and Matt Kaye. Two who were unable to attend the ceremony were Erin Hundley and Ruth Heard Tyson.

The teachers represented G. Weaver Hipps, Harns Marsh, Lehigh Acres Elementary, Mirror lakes, Sunshine Elementary, Lehigh Acres Middle School, Varsity Lakes Middle School, Veterans Park Academy for the Arts, East Lee County High, and Lehigh Senior High School for the Arts.
