While the Lee County Sheriff’s Office today continues to investigate the death of Cody Rossback, a 15-year-old Lehigh youth, investigators say the shooting may have been accidental.

The teenager was found by his mother in his bedroom this past Monday night, May 17.

According to investigators, there was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his face.

The call came in around 5:47 p.m. as an attempted suicide, according to Sheriff’s reports.

They said the boy was not breathing and there was no pulse. He was rushed to Lehigh Regional Medical Center after EMT workers arrived on the scene at around 6 p.m. and were able to get a pulse. Rossback was transfered from LRMC to Tampa General Hospital, according to reports.

According to deputies, a black revolver was found in the boy’s bedroom in front of a closet door.
