The desperate attempt of the East County Water Control District to borrow money from USDA was rejected.

The board is scrambling to borrow money

because of the bad financial decisions that were made over the past years are coming home to roost. The banks have turned them down and the

institutions are giving them a closer look because of the poor management decisions that got them into the financial mess they are in today.

No doubt the statement by Rep. Kreegel that if they keep spending, he will introduce legislation to control their assessment system.

There is no doubt the 70 plus people who attended the last meeting and joined with Commissioner Welch to protest the spending habits of the board. And no doubt they will be removed from office in November. Frank Lohlein
