Miracle fall in 9th, 4-3
VIERA – With the game tied 3-3 and the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Fort Myers Miracle closer Billy Bullock walked Shawn Zarraga to send Matt Cline home and hand Brevard County a 4-3 victory over the Miracle Thursday night.
Leading 3-0 into the seventh inning, the Miracle bullpen could not hold on as the Manatees snapped a seven-game losing streak.
After six shutout innings from starting pitcher Liam Hendriks, the Miracle turned the game over to Steve Blevins. The right-hander gave up two runs on three hits in the seventh.
Blevins allowed a leadoff triple to Kentrail Davis in the eighth. After a groundout, Blevins walked a batter to put runners at the corners. The Miracle summoned Bullock, who struck out the first batter. With two out, Scott Kreiger lined a ball into left field to tie the game 3-3.
In the ninth, Bullock gave up a base hit to Matt Cline, plunked Davis with a pitch and walked Sean Halton intentionally before issuing the game-ending walk to Zarraga.
Bullock (0-3), who had not allowed any runs in his last 11 appearances out of the bullpen, picked up the loss.
Hendriks pitched well enough to earn a victory, allowing just three hits in six innings and striking out seven for the no-decision.
