Summerlin Road and College Parkway intersection closures announced

The contractor on the Summerlin Road widening project will be setting the beams for the Summerlin/College overpass throughout the month of June, according to Lee Department of Transportation officials.

They said the intersection must be closed to all through and left turning traffic in order to perform this overhead work. In some cases, right turns will be allowed; however, use of alternate routes is encouraged.

The intersection will be closed overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; work will be done on various Sunday through Thursday nights. Dates for the closures will be posted on variable message boards on the project, in Roadwatch. Detour routes will be posted and off duty police

officers will be on site to direct traffic, officials said.

Iron workers will begin work on Sunday June 6, setting the first beams has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday nights.

The intersection closures to set the first two segments of beams are scheduled for overnight Monday June 7, and Tuesday June 8. The intersection will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to all through, left turning and southbound right turning movements, DOT officials said.
