Miracle tag Tigers, 5-1
LAKELAND – Fort Myers Miracle starting pitcher Dan Osterbrock tossed seven shutout innings to topple the Lakeland Tigers 5-1 Monday night.
The Miracle (25-32) had shut out the league’s second-best hitting team for 16 consecutive innings before the Tigers (32-25) scratched for a run against the Miracle bullpen in the eighth.
Osterbrock (3-4) continues to turn around his season after a rough 0-4 start. He is 3-0 in his last three starts, allowing one earned run in his last 19 2/3 innings. Monday, the left-hander allowed four hits to cruise through the Tigers’ lineup. He struck out four and issued no walks.
Deibinson Romero’s two-out RBI single drove in the first Miracle run in the third inning.
In the fifth, the Miracle added three runs on four hits. After consecutive singles by Jhonathan Goncalves and Joe Benson, Chris Parmelee blasted a two-run double to the left-center gap. Chris Herrmann added a two-out RBI single to right.
The final Miracle run came in the sixth on Allan De San Miguel’s solo home run over the left field wall.
The Tigers snapped the scoreless inning streak with a run with two out in the eighth against Miracle reliever Andrei Lobanov. After a double and a single in the inning, Bishop Rawly drove in the Tigers’ only run of the night.
Having taken two of three games in this series, the Miracle look to win the four-game set against Lakeland Tuesday night.
