Blades 2010-11 schedule out

By Staff | Jun 9, 2010

The Florida Everblades will open and close their 13th ECHL season on home ice at Germain Arena according to the 2010-11 schedule released Tuesday.

The Blades debut on Oct. 15-16 against the Gwinnett Gladiators and end the season on April 2 against the South Carolina Stingrays.

Though still subject to changes, the schedule lists a 72-game season with 36 home and 36 road games.

The schedule features a mix of games against opponents within the South Division as well as the two northern divisions. The Everblades will play 40 of 72 games against division foes, with the rest filling out against clubs from the East and North Divisions.

Next season, the Everblades will host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones for a three-game sereis in January and face the newest ECHL club from Greenville, S.C., a total of 15 times, eight of those on home ice.

The team’s longest homestands of the season include a six-game and a five-game stretch. The longest road trip is a six-game journey in November to South Carolina and Greenville with a five-game swing at the end of the month to Reading, Elmira, Kalamazoo and Cincinnati.

The new season also will bring a change in start time for home games. Monday through Friday games will begin at 7:30 p.m. while Saturday games start at 7 p.m. They only play one Sunday game at home, starting at 5 p.m.
