Rotary Club hits a home run
To the Editor:
The Rotary Club of Lehigh Acres hit a home run on May 14. The Club purchased
the Stadium for the Miracle Baseball Game for Lehigh. More than 3,000
tickets were purchased by the club to distribute free of charge to Lehigh
residents.
More than 7,381 people filled the stands with the largest attendance record for a game without fireworks night or an opening night game. The club buys out the ballpark one night each year to provide a family venue for fun for Lehigh residents as part of our service to the community.
The following letter of thanks was received from the Miracle Professional
Baseball Florida State League Class A Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins:
“Dear Rotary Members, The Miracle would like to extend a great big ‘thank
you’ for your partnership with us again this season! You helped us create a
great and memorable night for kids in Lehigh and around Lee County. Your
members provide a great service to the members in our community and we are
proud to partner with you. Thanks again and see you around the ballpark.”

The Rotary Club of Lehigh Acres is 42 members strong. Rotary International
is the world’s first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million
members in 33,000 clubs worldwide.
Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide
education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the
motto Service Above Self.
In Lehigh the Rotary Club provides free dictionaries to every Lehigh third
grade student and a free thesaurus to every fourth grade student just in
time for statewide testing. Students love a book they can keep.
Rotary also provides free Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners each holiday
season. We maintain an Adopt-A-Road, support a high school Rotary Interact
Club, provide scholarships, support the eradication of polio, and march in
the Spring Festival Parade. The Club also funded and packaged almost 50,000
meals for the food banks in town.
