Explanation offered about false alarm
To the Editor:
This is a response to a letter in the June 2 edition of The Lehigh Acres
Citizen titled “Headline should have read Dumb and Dumber.” In response for
the writer’s concern for the postman and myself, first of all perhaps he
should know the whole story.
About five to six years ago, my alarm kept malfunctioning and the deputies came out to investigate, only to find a malfunction. After about three responses, in a short amount of time, I was fined for having false alarms.
I do not blame the deputies for as it takes up their valuable time. To me it
was a large amount of money to have to pay. Then it did not happen again
since that time, so I thought the system was corrected. When the alarm
company calls they tell me where the problem lies, which was the same
problem that happened five to six years ago – your reader is probably right,
what I did was not the right thing to have done; however, my first
investigation was to check out the problem spot, so I did not go inside
blindly.
My second thought was paying a huge fine again for a false alarm.
Again many thanks for your reader’s concern. My only intention was to thank
a brave innocent person, and not be judgmental, because he helped me.
