County health offices move into new Lehigh site
Lehigh residents now have better access to health care.
That the word today from the Lee County Health Department which has opened a new office in Lehigh
providing residents with increased health care services. Family planning, childhood immunizations and WIC, a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children will all be located at the new location at 5624 8th Street West, Suite 106. A grand opening ceremony will occur later in the summer.
All three health services offered at the new location have separate operating hours:
* WIC services: 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The appointment phone number is (239) 344-2000.
* Immunization services: the first Thursday of every month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.. No appointments are necessary.
* Family Planning services: every Tuesday by appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The appointment phone number is (239) 461-6100.
Currently there are more than 2,500 clients receiving WIC services from Lehigh and this new clinic will be easily assessable for those using mass transit with a bus stop in the front of the office, health officials said. The former health department office in Lehigh located at 391 Lee Blvd is now closed. Two doctors’ offices remain in that complex next the The Lehigh Acres Citizen offices.
