Saturdays $24 million Fla. Lotto jackpot highest in nation
The Florida lotto jackpot has rolled over 11 times, resulting in a $24 million jackpot. The next Florida Lotto drawing is Saturday, June 26, at 11:15 p.m. This series of rollovers began with the May 19, drawing when the estimated jackpot rolled from $2 million to $4 million.
The highest jackpot since Florida Lotto began in 1988 was $106.5 million on September 15, 1990, and resulted in six winning tickets. The second highest jackpot was on December 14, 2002, when four tickets split a $104 million jackpot.
Florida Lotto jackpot prizes are paid in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum payment. If a sole winner chooses to take the $24 million jackpot as an annuity, he/she will receive 30 payments of approximately $800,000 per year! If a sole winner chooses the one-time, lump-sum cash option for the $24 million jackpot, approximately $15.6 million will be awarded.
The Florida Lottery added Xtra to Florida Lotto on October 11, 2009, allowing players to multiply their non-jackpot cash winnings by up to five times. Since the launch of Florida Lotto with Xtra, more than 3.7 million Xtra players have won more than $15.3 million in prizes.

Saturday’s Florida Lotto drawing is expected to generate approximately $17.6 million for public education in Florida.
A retailer who sells the Florida Lotto jackpot-winning ticket will receive a bonus incentive of $65,000. ( In the event of multiple winners, retailers will share the bonus incentives).
