Dewey Tyler has moved his Tae Kwon Do center and his fitness club to a new site on Homestead Rd. in the Lehigh Towne Centre in Suite 33.

And along with Tyler comes several of his clients who worked with him at a former location on Joel Blvd. The building is going into foreclosure.

“We’re ready and we’re open for business this week,” Tyler said.

“This is a great location and there is a lot of traffic at this shopping center and the building site could not be better. We have plenty of room and the landlord, Eugen Borosch is treating us well, helping up to reestablish ourselves here.

All the fitness equipment is on site now and those who belong to the fitness club are using the equipment during the week.

“Our Tae Kwon Do training is going well and we are still offering free memberships to children of one parent,” Tyler said.

Tae Kwon Do is how Tyler began his professional career, back when he was a student at Edison College in Fort Myers. After graduation, he and his wife began the business and the fitness center was added.

He said the sour economy has had a definite effect on his business.

“Our membership for the fitness center has been as high as more than 1,000 people. We’re down now to 350 but we expect it to pick back up as the economy improves,” he said.

He offers the workout equipment to local law enforcement officers and firefighters anytime they want to use it.

“They have a key and can come in here anytime 24 hours a day and seven days a week,” he said.

He is continuing with tumbling classes for children, a form of gymnastics and there are between 40 and 50 youngsters in that class. Tyler is offering an after school program for $10 a day for them to learn Tae kwon Do, too.

He is a grand master and a native of Vietnam who came to the U.S. after his stepfather adopted him and brought him and his Vietnamese mother to Lehigh.

The new Center is open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Also moving into the new site with him is Jackie Decker, a spiritual psychic who gives readings and offers compassion and grief counseling to those needing her help. She has been with Tyler for almost two years at the former location.

“I’m also a spiritual consultant and I am volunteering to help kids who are hospitalized with cancer,” she said. Decker is a cancer survivor. Call 239-565-8248 to make an appointment. She also does readings with groups away from the center.

Also located at the site is Jeff Kaplan who has been with Tyler since 2006. He is a registered massage therapist and nurse. To reach him, call 239-910-8045.

Dawn Mathisen who owns the Cool Candle business is also on site. She specializes in MiaBella candles and bath products.

Mark Armstrong, who owns a lawn service and tile and home improvement business is also at the site.

Also there is C&L and Bill Electric, with a phone number of 239-940-1270.

Tyler said the tanning booth has also moved to the new site and is available anytime the center is open.

“I’m excited about moving here,” he said. “It’s like a new chapter in our lives has opened for us.”
