Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a lone late-night burglar, who busted into a Lehigh Acres gas station, and walked out toting a small safe on his shoulder.
Deputies say the break-in occurred around 3:10 a.m. on May 17 at the Marathon Gas Station, 1490 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. The suspect pushed his way through the front door and made entry into the business. After knocking over some candy and DVD stands, the white male located the safe underneath the cash register, and immediately hoisted it onto his shoulders and walked out the door. The break-in triggered the store’s
alarm, and deputies were enroute within minutes, however the suspect had already disappeared.
The safe contained more than $6,000 in cash, as well as some personal
banking items belonging to the store’s owner.
