Miracle drop third straight to Marauders
One night after beating the Fort Myers Miracle 14-4 on 21 hits, the Bradenton Marauders needed just 11 hits to again win by 10 runs, 11-1 Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium.
The Miracle (3-3) issued nine walks and added three errors to help the Marauders (4-2). Eight of the 11 runs that scored did not reach on a hit.
Miracle starting pitcher Bruce Pugh struggled with his control and lasted just 3 1/3 innings. The Marauders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on two walks and two hits.
In his final inning, the fourth, Pugh walked the leadoff man and then hit the next batter. After a bunt advanced the runners, Pugh was taken out. Joe Testa entered in relief and got the Marauders to ground out twice, the first resulting in a run.
Pugh (3-6) gave up three earned runs on just two hits, but walked four and hit one. He also struck out four.
Bradenton added three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth against Miracle reliever Michael Allen. The Marauders picked up only one hit in the eighth inning, but the Miracle committed two errors. Allen issued a walk and also threw a wild pitch.
The Miracle scored their only run in the seventh. Nate Hanson doubled with one out, and Deibinson Romero brought him home with an RBI single.
The Miracle will try hald a three-game losing streak Wednesday against the Marauders at Hammond Stadium.
