Sheriff’s Office partners with ‘Stay Alive’ program

By Staff | Jul 1, 2010

The Stay Alive, Just Drive Inc. (SAJD) crash prevention, education and awareness program has partnered with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and LeeTran, continuing the effort to deliver safe driving messages.

Three busses now display the SAJD logo along with slogans including: “Hang Up & Drive.”…”Avoid Distracted Driving” and “Texting & Driving Reduces Surviving.” Funding was provided in part by a donation from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office forfeiture funds.

The Lee County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution on June 29 recognizing July as “Distracted Driving Awareness Month” and encourage all residents and visitors to sign the Just Drive pledge.

AT&T has joined SAJD as a corporate sponsor contributing $5,000 in funding support to help continue outreach efforts with young drivers. Information can be found at www.tonic.com/article/att-awards-youth-who-pledge-not-to-text-and-drive/.

Simulator Systems International Inc., of Tulsa, Okla., recently purchased 40 distracted driving presentation kits to be included with each purchase of one of their driving simulators.
