It’s the Fourth of July weekend and tonight the skies over Lehigh will light up with a gala fireworks display, thanks to area businesses which paid for it.

It is the first time in five years that Lehigh has had a fireworks display.

It’s Saturday and that means tonight and it starts at dusk. You can watch anywhere in the Veterans Park area. You shouldn’t park on Homestead Rd. however. There is plenty of room in the park to leave your car. If you park at nearby shopping areas, you can get a good view of the fireworks, too.

The Freedom Rally program starts at 4 p.m. and there will be plenty of entertainment at Veterans Park.

To get in the park, they’ll ask you for a $3 donation to be shared with a soccer league and Lehigh Community Services. You can buy wristbands for $3 so youngsters can take part in all the chilren’s entertinment over and over again.

Bring no coolers and no fireworks to the park. There will be a beer tent, but you can not walk around the park with an open container of beer.

The fireworks should last for about 20 minutes.
