PORT ST. LUCIE – After losing seven straight to the St. Lucie Mets, the Fort Myers Miracle finally broke through Friday night with a 3-1 victory.

The Miracle (5-9, 33-51) avoided being swept by the Mets for the second consecutive week and finish 2-3 on their east coast road trip to Jupiter and St. Lucie.

Miracle starting pitcher Dan Osterbrock (4-6) was dominant for the win, allowing just two hits and one walk in six shutout innings. He struck out seven, including striking out the side in the bottom of the first. Joe Testa pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits, including a solo home run to Hector Pellot in the eighth. Testa notched his first save with the Miracle in his 10th appearance.

Scoreless through four innings, the Miracle broke through against Mets starter Brandon Moore in the fifth. The Miracle went hitless through the first four frames before Nick Romero led off the fifth with a single. After a bunt, Estarlin De Los Santos brought one run home with a base hit that squeaked through the Mets defense up the middle.

The Miracle added their final two runs against the Mets bullpen. With two on and one out in the seventh, Brian Dozier brought home a run on a fielder’s choice RBI groundout. Chris Herrmann capped off the night with an RBI double with two outs in the eighth.

The Miracle return to Hammond Stadium to start a three-game series against Jupiter Saturday night.
