Frances “Maxine” Johnson Potter of Lehigh Acres, and formerly of East Bank, W.V. died on Thursday, July 15, 2010. She was born in East Bank July 4, 1923, to Robert and M. Ellen Thomas Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Pat” Potter; sisters, Vianna Jane Johnson, Reba Elisabeth Grizzell, Thelma Lousie Keeney, and brother, James Lowery Johnson.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Grace “Mickey” Johnson of Marietta, Ga., niece, Deborah Keeney Cox of California; nephews, John Riffe of Lehigh Acres, Charles Riffe of Ashland, Ky., Andrew Potter of Port Arthur, Texas, Robert Keeney of Salisbury, N.C., and many friends in West Virginia and Florida.
She graduated from East Bank High School and Marshall University and taught in Kanawha County Elementary Schools, before retiring from Chelyan Elementary in 1978 and moving to Lehigh Acres. She was a member of Hampton Baptist Church in East Bank, then First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres.
Services will be held in Lee Memorial Park, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
