Would like to see swimming lessons offered to all

By Staff | Jul 20, 2010

To The Editor:

Payton Lynne Partain was 17 months old when she passed away. Payton was such a lively little girl. She loved to dance and twirl to any music. She always had a smile on her face and big bright eyes.

If you were sad she could brighten your whole day. She made you feel like you were the only person she cared about. I am the mother of Payton Lynne Partain.

On June 22, 2010 my daughter fell in the pool at my mother’s house while my little sister was watching her. She stepped away only for a moment to get the dog. As she returned she heard the splash. She immediately called 911 for help.

EMS told her how to do CPR until they arrived. They took Payton to the Lehigh hospital where she was stabilized. They then transported her to Health Park. Payton was with us for two days.

On June 24, 2010 Payton passed away. We all want to get the word out about getting swimming lessons for all children.

This can happen to anyone. We are in the process of starting a foundation to help people who cannot afford the cost to get swimming lessons and CPR classes. These are tools everyone should know. You never know, with your help, the life you save could be your own. If you would like to know more you can email me personally at dumpsterarlette@aol.com. Also big thanks goes to Deputy Brett Youd for trying his best in helping to stabilize her when he arrived on the scene.
