To The Editor,

The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District would like to acknowledge that IAFF Union Local 1826 District 6 and District 19 have ratified the Collective Bargaining Agreements for which impasse was declared May 28, 2010. The concessions amounted to approximately $1.5 million.

This new agreement is a good outcome for our employees, customers, citizens and community. We strongly believe that this was a successful negotiation process and are pleased that our employees ratified the contract.

The Board will take action to review and vote upon ratification at their next regularly scheduled meeting (July 21, 2010). This meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. and is located at 55 Homestead Rd S Veterans Park Community Center.

Now that we have a new agreement, we can focus our energy and efforts on meeting the challenges of this economic downturn and working together to build a better future for our organization and our community.
