Fugitive Timothy Tuttle apprehended
Lee County deputies apprehended a fugitive on the run Wednesday afternoon following a call at 4:35 p.m. regarding a suspicious person. Officials said the incident occurred in the same vicinity as an earlier search for wanted murder suspect, Timothy Tuttle, 22.
Authorities said a search began immediately after arrival on the scene.
The caller had described a white male with blonde hair, no shirt and black shorts standing near the corner of a building where Frito Lay delivery trucks were parked in the south end of the industrial park off Jetport Loop, officials said.
The last known description of Tuttle was the same as provided by the citizen, authorities said.
Additional support personnel responded to include the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, Traffic Unit, K-9s and fugitive warrants detectives. Sightings reported by the public continued to be received and dispatched to the law enforcement members on the ground and in the air.
As the suspect continued to move between trees, bushes and an open field, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 team was deployed and the flight crew coordinated efforts. The suspect was observed on multiple occasions attempting to hide, authorities said.
Finally, he began to move west toward I-75 and units converged on him. Officials said Tuttle raised his hands and was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 5:37 p.m.
Timothy Tuttle has been booked into the Lee County Jail and charged with murder in Cape Coral. Just a few days earlier, he had been listed on the 10 Most Wanted List by the Sheriff’s Office.
