Next month’s roster of activities at East County Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

Book Discussion: Jamie Ford’s “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 2 Read “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” by Jamie Ford and discuss it with fellow community members. The East County Book Discussion Group is open to all.

Save Your Home!

6 p.m. Wednesday, August 4

Join Dawn Russell from the Consumer Credit Counseling Service for this free, informative program offering options available to prevent foreclosure.

English Caf

10 a.m. Fridays, August 6, 13, 20, 27

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

FAMILY

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10 a.m. Saturday, August 14

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.

KIDS

Children’s Drama Workshop – Libba Cotten and the Rumbling Freight Train

4:30 p.m. Wednesdays, August 4, 11, 18, 25

Rehearsal and practice attendance is mandatory. Based on “Libba Cotten and the Rumbling Freight Train: A Musical Drama.” This is the true story of the little girl who wrote the world-famous song. For ages 5 – 16. Registration is required.

Kids Read Down Fines

3 p.m. Saturday, August 21

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only.

Florida’s Animals

2 p.m. Saturday, August 28

Learn about Florida’s animals through stories and puppets. Presented by the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA).
