A man was shot when gunfire was exchanged between Lee County Sheriff’s deputies who responded to 335 Beachwood Ave. in Lehigh Thursday at around 2 p.m. to serve a warrant.

The man was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant, officials said. The victim was identified as David Brian Koch, 47.

Deputies located the man in the back yard of the home. He was armed and gunfire was exchanged, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man died at the scene. The deputy was not injured. The deputy was not identified but Sheriff’s officials aid he has been put on administrative leave, which is pollicy when a shooting occurs.
