Miracle and Wendy’s “Go to bat” for kids

By Staff | Jul 31, 2010

The Fort Myers Miracle Professional Baseball Club and Wendy’s have formed a double-play combo to promote a summer full of reading throughout Southwest Florida.

“Books & Bats” asks students, age 12 and under, to read four books over the summer and then fill out a “Books & Bats” bookmark.

Students may pick up a bookmark from any Lee or Collier County public library, Hammond Stadium or all participating Wendy’s locations in the two-county area.

Students will be asked to record the books they have read on the bookmark, and then return the completed bookmark to any participating Lee or Collier County Wendy’s.

Students will receive two tickets to a Miracle game and a free Jr. Frosty from Wendy’s. Miracle tickets can be redeemed for the game on Wednesday, August 18.

“With our Education Days and the Books & Bats reading program the Miracle continue to show our vital commitment to the schools,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Terry Simon. “This is a program that rewards kids for continuing the learning process during the summer and we encourage all kids to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Miracle tickets can be used by both children and parents. All students 12 years of age and younger are eligible to participate in the “Books & Bats” program. Student participation is unlimited throughout the summer. For more information contact the Miracle at 768-4210.
