Reminder: Candidates Forum will be Thursday, Aug. 5

By Staff | Jul 31, 2010

The Community Council of Lehigh Acres reminded local residents this week that the organization will host a Community Candidate Forum on Thursday, August 5, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The forum will be at Lehigh Senior High School at 901 Gunnery Road in Lehigh Acres.

Among the more than 50 candidates scheduled to appear are candidates for U.S. congressman, governor, state representative, state senate, county commission members, Lee County court judges, school and Lee County Healthy System hospital boards, mosquito control, the East County Water Control District (ECWCD) and the Lehigh Ares Fire Dept.

The primary is Aug. 24. Elections to fill both the ECWCD and the fire board seats will be in November. They are non-partisan races.

Residents will have an opportunity to talk to the candidates at tables set up in the school auditorium entrance. The format for the forum includes short presentations from each of the candidates from the stage. No questions will be asked from the audience. Community Council members urge the public to get there early so they have time to talk and ask questions of the candidates they select. There will be plenty of campaign literature at each of the candidates’ tables.

All local, state, and federal level primary and general election candidates were invited.
