A hand gun reported stolen in March from a Cape Coral home was recovered Sunday morning from a man who has a concealed weapons permit.
The man was not arrested.
According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies went to Johnny Malloy’s Sports Pub, 10347 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs, about a belligerent man who was asked to leave the pub because it was closing time. Witnesses said he was telling people he had a concealed weapon permit and a gun. They saw a holster.
The man left and reportedly walked toward the Waffle House, 28100 Quails Nest Lane.
About 3:30 a.m., deputies found the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, inside on a seat, the report says. Deputies were concerned for other patrons’ safety and asked him to step outside. He told deputies he had a gun in the holster on his side. Deputies found the loaded Ruger 9 mm with a round in the chamber in his front pocket.
Accord-ing to reports, he told deputies he had no other weapons, but they found a Kel-Tec P11 9 mm with a round in the chamber and a full magazine which was reported stolen in a March 11 burglary in the 100 block of Southeast 43rd Lane in Cape Coral.
Deputies confirmed the man, Earl W. Labounty, 26, of the 9800 block of Alabama Street, Bonita Springs, has a concealed weapons permit. He spoke to deputies about where he got the gun, but did not know an address. He did have the telephone number.
