An Update:
Saturday, August 7, 2010
Forty-five-year old Lawrence Charles Baldwin (no local address) has been charged with second degree murder, a first degree felony in connection with the death of a North Fort Myers man at his home on Stipe Street. Baldwin had been seen in the area the night before the victim, identified as 83-year-old old John Quimby of 457 Stipe Street, North Fort Myers, was found dead from an apparent stab wound. Baldwin is accused of stealaiang numerous items from the victim’s home.
Baldwin had been released from the Lee County Jail earlier this week for a second offense of driving on a suspended license. Prior driving offense records reveal he had lived in the area during the last year, including a residence a few doors down from the victim’s on Stipe Street. Sheriff’s investigators said.
He had been reported as a suspicious person Thursday evening in the area and was questioned by deputies to find out why. No crime was revealed at the time and he said he was in the area to try and pick up clothes from his prior listed address.
Baldwin will be booked into the Lee County Jail.
