Letters: Reader sees revolt on LACPC on disbanding
To The Editor:
LACPC members revolted against the suggestion by Damon Shelor of the Lehigh Acres Community Council, Edd Weiner and Richard Georgian. The members were shocked when they learned about the plan hatched up to dissolve the board and give control of its business to Shelor’s Community Council.
The members decided to go public (whatever that means) and set a new agenda by changing its name and letting the public have more input into its operations
No doubt the decision by the county planner after the input from the Lehigh public at the July 24 public meeting at the library decided to have general meetings and take public input on the code without setting up so-called local boards or middle staff to come between the taxpayers and the county planners by filtering and disregarding the feelings of Lehigh citizens who are capable of speaking for themselves.
At the next Aug. 28 meeting at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park, (all are invited), an attempt will be made to form some kind of group to gather information and present it as a report to the county.
There is no reason to do this except to give control of the peoples’ opinions to a filter group. This kind of action will be vigorously opposed as it will lead to confrontation and confusion to the planners’ goals to help Lehigh
