With mother nature brewing with heavy lighting storms to the east of Hammond Stadium Friday night, the Fort Myers Miracle and Charlotte Stone Crabs quickly completed a game before the heavy rains arrived, with the Miracle holding on for a 2-1 win.

Santos Arias (4-5) was outstanding, limiting Charlotte to a first inning run for the win. The Miracle were outhit 6-2 by the the Crabs, but a wild inning by the pitching staff cost the Crabs the game.

With the score tied 1-1 in the fifth inning, Stone Crabs starter Deivis Mavarez walked two consecutive batters with one out. He was pulled in favor of Michael Jarmon, who loaded the bases with a walk to Angel Morales. With Brian Dozier at the plate, the left-hander uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Drew Thompson to score the winning run.

Mavarez (0-1) took the loss, making his first start in the Florida State League. The side-winder allowed just one hit, but it proved to be a costly one. Allan De San Miguel took the first pitch he saw in the third inning and crushed a home run, his third of the year, over the left field wall to tie it at 1-1 at the time.

Charlotte scored its only run in the first on a two-out RBI single by Stephen Vogt. The Stone Crabs never had more than one base runner aboard in any inning the rest of the night.

Dakota Watts pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his team-leading fourth save of the year.

With the victory, the Miracle evened their season series with the Stone Crabs at 9-9.

The Miracle host Bradenton for three critical games this weekend, starting with a double header Saturday.
